Regrets

If wishes were lay-flat seats in first class, no one would have jet lag. I just cut this list from the last chapter of my book. Regrets I have upon returning home after my first — but not my last — big adventure.

  • I regret not spending more time with my friend Greg before leaving on my trip.
  • I regret that I did not eat sushi in Japan. How can you go to Japan and not eat sushi?! I mean, come on…
  • I wish I had swam more. I have this same regret at home on Nantucket every day I don’t jump in the water.
  • I regret packing so much and yet I regret not bringing some things along.
  • I regret not getting to Bhutan, Morocco, Egypt.
  • I regret not getting more food poisoning because I was not quite as adventurous in trying new foods as I could have been.
  • I regret not learning to ride a scooter or motor bike before leaving on my trip.
  • I regret not getting to the beach when I was in Brazil. How can I call myself a beach person without doing that?
  • I regret not buying that Lucha Libre t-shirt in Mexico City.
  • I regret that I have not launched my next big adventure yet.
